Make it so it can't break

There is nearly a complete lack of any kind of metal shackles on these boats.  The fastening is generally what you see here, a strop made of multiple passes of kevlar line to attach a block to a pad eye.  The advantage to this system is that if you watch the strops, you will see them start to fray before they break, which is different from shackles, which hide their stress cracks until they blow up!  The two blocks to the left are for the running back stays.  The one to the right is for the spinnaker sheet.  The black mats are solar panels for generating electricity.  This is Geodis.
